Hello Everyone,

As you may have all heard by now, Ford has put a Province-wide shut down effective Saturday, April 3rd at 12:01 am for at least 4 weeks.

Ontario Soccer has sent out a memo stating that all in-person soccer activities will be suspended for this duration to comply with Government orders. (please see the official memo from Ontario Soccer below)

Please note that this is only temporary and not indicative of how the season will play out. We will get back on track on May 1st with Ontario Soccer/Canada Soccer, and the NFSC - NIAGARA FC OPDL Return to Play plan.

What does this mean for the season? At this point, nothing. If anything it will continue to be planned as we have been planning up until this point. As we stated before, it may be modified, and it is possible that it may be delayed, but we are confident that there will be a Soccer season, especially this year, as vaccinations are in full force, and we were able to run sessions successfully last year in July.

Absolutely no in-person training, team activities, etc., will be permitted during this time by the Club for all NFSC TITANS Festival/Rep teams or NIAGARA FC OPDL teams. ZOOM sessions will be permitted only. All Coaches for all our Teams have already been notified and should be communicating this back to their teams as well.

This is unfortunate, but at this time, this is what is mandated.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email our office and will be happy to assist.

We hope everyone enjoys their Easter weekend and please stay safe!

Subject:      Government of Ontario pauses current Public Health Framework, All In-Person Soccer activities suspended 'for at least four weeks

Ontario Soccer continues to work in consultation with Canada Soccer and the Government of Ontario, as we prepare for Return to Play 2021. Ontario Soccer will keep the membership updated with the most recent developments surrounding Ontario Soccer’s Return to Play Plan.

The Government of Ontario announced today that it has paused its Government of Ontario current color Public Health Framework and announced a Province-Wide Shutdown for multiple sectors of the economy.

These new restrictions are greater than the previous Government of Ontario Framework and the Province has made specific changes to the rules for outdoor recreational facilities and team sports.

As a result, Ontario Soccer is required to suspend all in-person soccer activities ‘for at least four weeks’ in order to comply with government orders. Online activities may continue during this period.

This Government directive is effective Saturday, April 3, 2020 at 12:01 a.m.

Ontario Soccer has been lobbying the Provincial Government to ensure that soccer has a safe Return to Play this summer and will continue to do so, on our membership’s behalf, during this difficult time.

Ontario Soccer requests that all member organizations contact their Public Health Unit to determine which specific activities might be permitted for your region. Click here to find your Public Health Unit.

Member organizations are encouraged to stay in contact with their local Public Health Unit and Municipality during this period.

Ontario Soccer will continue to update the membership as further changes are made.
