WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A VOLUNTEER COACH?

Our club relies on parents to help by coaching their child's House League team each summer in order for things to move smoothly!

The commitment of coaching a team differs depending on the age group, but all ages need a parent from each team. Below are some of the things a parent coach would need to help out with during the season:

U3/4, U5/6, & U7 - In these age groups, we have club-appointed activity leaders to run the session for all players on the field. This means that your soccer skills and knowledge aren't important here, just your willingness to help and your positive attitude! You will only need to help out once a week on Saturday mornings during your child's session.

U8/9 and above - Players who are 8 and older play actual games meaning that we are looking for coaches to manage game days and run one practice a week. Now, this might seem daunting, but we at the club give you all of the tools you need in order to run fun practices and make sure you are not overwhelmed. Our club director of grassroots, Vince Stranges, regularly sends out session plans giving you ideas for practices and cutting down the work you need to do. On top of this, you get to pick your team's practice time meaning that it will work around your schedule! 

Every year we have some teams that will have 2 or even 3 coaches who rotate for the season meaning that the commitment is even less for those of you who can't commit to coaching every week!
